About the Products
What is a Giclée Print?
You might ask, What is a Giclée Print?
Giclée is a French term meaning spraying of ink. Printing directly from information obtained from the original painting. Digital printers can spray microscopic drops of color onto fine art papers or canvases. Displaying the full color spectrum, these artworks have vibrant colors and a velvety texture. The prints are published are on Somerset Velvet watercolour paper (330 grams). This method can achieve tremendous detail. Traditional Litho printing typically uses a resolution of 300 dots of pigment per inch, whereas Giclee Iris printers can achieve 1800dpi.
How to Handle and Frame Your Print
Clearly because it is on paper your Giclée print is very delicate and must not be exposed to moisture. Handle the print as carefully as you would an original watercolour taking special care to avoid any contact with water or mist. Clean and dry your hands thoroughly before touching it.
Ideally you should frame your print using acid free, conservation mount board and ultraviolet filtered glazing. For the preservation of your print please hang it in an area that is free from strong light and humidity. You might like to use reflection reduction glass if you are hanging opposite a window or bright lights.
If your giclée print has been handled properly you should enjoy many years of pleasurable viewing.
